Academic Business World International Conference & International Conference on Learning and Administration Proceedings

IIC Academic Conference - Atlanta, GA Video

Video for Intellectbase International Academic Conference

Intellectbase International Consortium (IIC) Atlanta, GA Oct 2010

This event was a well received one in which 10 peer reviewed proceedings were published.  It took a lot of time, money, and energy to ensure we were able to do the impossible this event.   Unfortunately I will be unable to attend the Las Vegas IIC conference however I will send a publication to this event.  I would highly recommend any researcher participate in this conference as they hold many of these a year inside the United States (U.S.), and outside of the U.S. in areas such as Malaysia, China, South Africa, and more.

2010 National Urban League (NUL) Centennial Conference 100@100

Over the summer this year I had the pleasure of participating in the 2010 National Urban League (NUL) Centennial Conference in Washington D.C.  This event came to be due to one student asking to speak to a person who had a doctoral degree.  Before they had never had the pleasure of asking someone what does it take to pursue that path.  Thus through a friend I volunteered to participate at this event. If the event is close by I shall definitely speak at this event once again. Below is a copy of the thank you email for volunteering at this event.

Subject: 100 @ 100 - Thank You!
Dear Volunteer Professional,
Thank you so much for your interest and participation in our “A Legacy of Success: The 100 @ 100
Luncheon.” Many of our youth and adult chaperons have expressed their delight with the meaningful and
impactful conversations that took place at their tables. While I am expressing my own gratitude as well as that of the National Urban League for taking the time out of your busy schedules for a wonderful cause, I am also echoing a heartfelt, sincere, and passionate sentiment of appreciation on behalf of our participants; they truly felt touched that so many accomplished professionals wanted to meet them, speak to them, and listen to them.

I would like to remind you that your impact was far reaching in more ways than one. We had youth
representation from every corner of the country, including Florida, Texas, Minnesota, California and even Alaska at our conference. Wherever they were from, we expect that this event will stay with them and impact them well beyond their time in Washington, D.C. Based on the overall success of this event, it is likely we will plan a similar event for our 2011 conference in Boston, MA.

Again, I would like to thank each and every one of you who attended and acknowledge those who
expressed their interest in helping our youth. For anyone interested, we would like to send a small memento of
appreciation and acknowledgement to those who attended as well as to those who RSVP’d and could not make it due to outstanding circumstances. If you are interested, please provide me with your mailing address and I will put together a package for you. Also, feel free in your email to provide any comments about your experience or suggestions that might improve the event in the future.

On behalf of the National Urban League and our NULITES youth from around the country, we applaud
your achievements, thank you for your participation, and wish you the best in your personal and professional
endeavors.

Sincerely,

Jason T. Hendrickson

Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

This article examines the emerging need for software assurance.  As defense contractors continue to develop systems for the Department of Defense (DoD) those systems must meet stringent requirements for deployment.  However as over half of the vulnerabilities are found at the application layer organizations must ensure that proper mechanisms are in place to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of the code is maintained.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) Progress

This has been a very rough year.  I honestly do not think I have pushed myself more in my life than this year.  This year I have received multiple peer reviewed publications, peer reviewed proceedings, presentations, and etc.  This year I relocated from Huntsville, AL to Baltimore, MD which has been a major complication in itself as now I must manage two properties.

As far as my MBA studies I currently have a 3.93 Grade Point Average (GPA).  I am currently taking Applied Managerial Economics with Strategic Management in Dynamic Environments left.  The program has taught me a lot and has been very stressful as there are approximately nine assignments for a course which is only 5 1/2 weeks long.  I believe this MBA shall be essential in my future endeavors if they are to remain in industry or go toward academia.  The MBA will allow me to seek other positions of higher levels of management or even leap into other positions far from the engineering tasks I am currently performing.  In academia this would help solidify a position in a School of Business (SOB) or assist in becoming a Program Chair or Dean.

BEST JOBS IN AMERICA: 1. Systems Engineer

Systems EngineerI came across a listing of the top jobs and found out that the Systems Engineer was the best job in America for 2009.  It is rather pleasing as I am currently teaching graduate courses at Morgan State University in Systems Engineering.  Enjoy the read below.

Top 50 rank: 1
Sector: Information Technology
What they do: They're the "big think" managers on large, complex projects, from major transportation networks to military defense programs. They figure out the technical specifications required and coordinate the efforts of lower-level engineers working on specific aspects of the project.

\Why it's great: Demand is soaring for systems engineers, as what was once a niche job in the aerospace and defense industries becomes commonplace among a diverse and expanding universe of employers, from medical device makers to corporations like Xerox and BMW.
Pay can easily hit six figures for top performers, and there's ample opportunity for advancement. But many systems engineers say they most enjoy the creative aspects of the job and seeing projects come to life. "The transit system I work on really makes a tangible difference to people," says Anne O'Neil, chief systems engineer for the New York City Transit Authority.
Drawbacks: Long hours are common; project deadlines can be fierce.
Pre-reqs: An undergrad engineering degree; some jobs might also require certification as a certified systems engineering professional (CSEP).
